I live in grow zone 6 and I lost my first plant this season to cucumber beetles. I switched pesticides and I no longer see the cucumber beetles but my plant was not salvageable. I replanted a few weeks ago at the beginning of July. Is there a chance I'll see a pumpkin at all? I got quality seeds from a 1000lb pumpkin from a club. At this point I'm just looking to get a 100-200lb pumpkin for my county fair in October. I know I won't get a really big one this year. Thanks for any thoughts!

Maybe. I have grown mid August pollinations to 250-500 lbs.

I have some late starts also, they're only a few feet long! I might quick build a hoophouse to keep the frost off and boost the night time temps. I'd be happy with a 200 lb porch pumpkin and some viable seeds.

You may be somewhat at the mercy of the weather, as will I.

I have about a hundred-pounder and a vivid imagination at this point, lol, but since it was pollinated around July 6th, I think and is not capable of being weighed, I'm just guessing. These volleyballs can get pret-ty heavy out there, in the dark...
Well, maybe someone will tell you how to get your plant to grow really quickly and be ready with 2 months left for it to grow a 200# pumpkin.
I am not being sarcastic and I think it'll have a great likeness TO The Great Pumpkin!
I had a 510.5 in 2004 that was pollinated a month late by my usual standards and still got that 'big' by October 1st
or so - it was on about an 800 square foot plant, though. I long for a productive plant like THAT again, lol:

I think it is possible. Your goals are modest and you should be able to get something to show for your efforts. Make it a priority to keep the plant healthy, especially with the diseases that show up in late summer and with the cooler nights of September.
