Were the 2000#ers in Belgium and Spain at GPC sites? Not seeing any results. I agree with Sergio. Results should be inputted that day. Congratulations to the European growers. They are doing a great job!

I have a friend put them up for us in the UK but we normally have to wait untill we get home to get Wifi. We really do our best to get results put up on the same day. I'll just take this opportunity to ask again for all weigh offs to post results as soon as possible. Ian

It has been the same since 2005 when the BP spread sheet first came out you have 24 hours to upload your complete results. This is not a rule but a guideline but one only a few adhere to. You are right Sergio it is very frustrating when you are waiting for results days on end & they don't come in & when some do they are incomplete.
Biggest issue with getting the data entered is there are few who actually preregister their entries. When you get to the site contact the data entry person & offer to help. When you get home check your results & contact the data entry person if there are mistakes.
With the availability of phones, tablets, & other mobile devises with mobile hot spots it is pretty hard to find a location that doesn't support internet capabilities. In the end it is all growers responsibility to ensure their results are posted correctly not to mention this is how the GPC tabulates the winners.
Case in point Steve Sperry & Steven Sperry are the same person but when the data is sorted will be entered as 2 different people because he wasn't registered at both sites with the same spelling. This could cost someone a grower of the year or a master gardner award because they were not entered the same at all sites they participated at.

I think a lot of this has to do with available time for Ken to get everything posted. He is a one man operation who does this and every year more and more weigh offs are out there.

That is a very good point Eddy. With over 25 weigh offs in a weekend it is a huge undertaking for Ken and also for all the GPC team to keep tabs on all of them. That said we can improve in the future for sure. Ian

all the more reason for more growers to volunteer, actually work for the future of the gpc. offer your services.Do not expect a few to carry the many.

I have heard we had multiple pumpkins over 2,000#'s weighed over this past weekend but do not see them in the GPC results. If in fact they were weighed at a GPC site what is the hold up? This also goes for the sites on both sides of the pond whether you had 2K+ pumpkins or not get your sites fruit statistics uploaded asap please.

Every site has different circumstances they must contend with which might prevent real time entering. It would be ideal if we all could, but patience is needed while some sites complete their entire gamut of competition over what may encompass than one day. It's much easier for committee members who are responsible for entering data to do so after all competition has ended, especially after putting in 14 hour days consecutively. The process of hosting a weigh-off can be very exhausting.

I have talked to Ken and we will try and do something to help get the results up quicker. Fortunately my buddy Edd is very good on computers and he got ours up on the same day this year. But,and here's the but he had to spend the whole day with other helpers on his laptop. It was dark and late when we left the show ground after clearing up. He had to wait untill he got home to get a signal and finally managed to get the results up at around midnight. If we add in the language barrier and the massive amount of time Ken has to put in you can see why not all sites get done the same day. I'm not saying we're not ambitious to improve but just trying to give an example as to how it works. Thank you Ken, Edd and all the other volunteers for your help. Ian
