President - GPC

The GPC Committee is pleased to announce that Mr Pete Caspers will be representing the Central Region Representative.

I grew up in Eastern Iowa, and have live here my whole life, I started Growing and got hooked on giant pumpkins in 1994 at age 14 when I was given a extra plant from a local grower, which I grew to a whopping 393 lbs. I grew all 4 years of high school. I would take the next 10 years off to go to college to play football for the Upper Iowa University Peacocks, start a career in the Mining industry and meet my lovely wife. In 2007 my girlfriend(current wife) and I would buy a place near Dubuque Iowa with 1.5 acres. We went to the Ryan Norlin Memorial weigh off that fall, and seen Don Youngs 1662 Iowa state Record.

In 2008 I was back at it! took a few years to get the weights up. a lot of that credit goes to going to the GPC Big Show, joining Wisconsin giant pumpkin growers club, and St Croix club. I have now been married for 10 years to my wife Jayme, we have a 7 year old daughter named Alba who spends a lot of her time out in the patch with me. Some highlights of my 15 season growing Career include making the Anamosa parade for the past 3 years, becoming Iowa's 2nd heavy hitter Jacket holder, and now joining The GPC committee representing the central region!
