I grew a quite ambitious kabocha squash plant it set a lot of fruit. Long story as short as possible I cooked one and put the cooked squash meat in the blender to prep it for pie but I thought maybe with the pie spice and some sweetener and some ice it might be edible as a drink. Anyhow it was actually not bad! It has the texture of banana puree but the flavor of pumpkin pie or pumpkin ice cream. The ingredients I used was cloves cinnamon honey and allspice and nutmeg and the CV looked winter squash and a little water and ice. It is a lot of energy & nutrients. Enough to feel alive & surprisingly satisfied.
Winter squash... a great shtf crop. If that was all you had... you'd get sick of it... but you'd survive.
