There is talk that crossing these 2 lines has incredible potential due to their isolated nature from each other. I think it is a great time to make some crosses that aren't inbred x inbred. I hope this stirs up a little thought, Mark

The 783 Daletas (which grew the 1385 Daletas) is just about as isolated genetically as any seed that has grown anything big. Maybe that should be thrown into the mix.

I was going to pollinate my 1180.5 Pukos with my 1502 Wallace, I hope it works.

I still think a great cross would be the 1402 Bosworth (Sefled 1068) crossed with the 1468 Richards (Selfed 998). The 1402 was really heavy and the 1468 had pretty nice shape. I think this could be one awesome cross for someone to make.

Of coure the 1180.5 Pukos came from a 1068, so I guess it isn't a very distant genetic between the too.

The 1350 Wallace is 1068 X 998. That one should turn out to be killer! I'll hopefully find out this year. I'll probably cross it with the 1502 or maybe the 1408.5 Daletas which is 1068 X 805 Pukos. Either way should make and awesome cross.

Vineman, you saying to cross the 783 with a 1068 or 998.6? Or take take a seed like the 1446.5 Werner and cross it with the 783 daletas? just asking for I have them and never thought about doing this cross.

Would be nice to see a 783 X 1068 or 783 X 1041 as the 783 grows some big pumpkins and has no Lloyd or Knauss genes in it. Hmmm

The 893 Privitera(998.6 Pukos x 1068 Wallace) goes in our patch this year thanks to Tom's generosity. When I spotted his cross, I just had to ask him for one. This seed is gonna get hot.

I like the 1402 Bosworth X 1468 Richards(and reverse) as well. Two selfed seeds from big pumpkins.

Not trying to hijack the tread, But I think Vineman may have a good idea. I think the 783 Daletas has been a way under planted seed, produceing good colour and heavy fruit, with an outcross to most of todays genetics. I have thought about doing this also.

So then how would the 1420.5 Larue x 783 Daletas and reverse be?

I think that the 1420.5 x 783 cross is interesting, considering that the 1420 is half of the 998 Pukos cross, which has been so successful. I think that possibly part of what makes 998 Pukos cross work so well is that is has a little bit of something besides 845/723 Bobier and 898 Knauss in the family tree...the 801 Stelts is present four generations back in both of the parent seeds of the 998 Pukos (via the 846 Calai). I personally think that the 846 is pretty hot stuff --genetically that is.
