Has the 1142 Van Kooten X 898 Knauss cross been made? If so, looks like it should have tons of potential. Could perform like a 1068 Wallace or maybe even better (don't mean to sound irreverent, lol!). How about the reverse cross?

If Russ Landry grows the 1142 this year, we'll try to get some pollen to him from our 898 Knauss. We've been thinking about this cross ever since we found the 898.

I was trying to decide between the 1142 or the 1536.5 from this year. I will also pollinate the 664.5 Liggett with the 898 Knauss.

I think I will be pollinating the 1142 with the 842 Eaton as well.

I really like the 664.5 Liggett and the 227 Leland, as those that could do really well when pollinated by the 898 Knauss.

Don't know how I missed this post, I think a lot of folks are thinking of 1142 x 898. I'm either going with the 1142 or 1104 Van Kooten and possibly using 546.4 Zaychkowsky 06 (898 Knauss x 1068 Wallace) as a pollinator. Not an 898 Knauss but pretty darn close. 1301 Eaton is a possibility as well.
