Is this the only cross that is the same as the 1161 Rodonis? Or are there more out there?

1566 Rodonis was the exact reverse cross (the same genetically).
Also from pumpkinlink, these are the geneticly the same parents since 998.6 was reverse of 1231:
1246 Lombardi (998.6 Pukos x 1450 Wallace) 1020.8 Lancaster (998.6 Pukos x 1450 Wallace) 1017 Kurkowski (998.6 Pukos x 1450 Wallace)

Yes thanks bathabitat, but are there any exact same crosses apart from the 970.5?

Unless someone is holding out Phil, I think the 970.5 is the only same cross, good to know. bathabitat you can add 320 Lombardi to the list, revese of the 1246.

See benny_p's comment on the "number of male flowers" post. The 970.5 Barenie is at best a double first cousin of the 1161. If you accept that and still want to move forward, then recognize that exact reciprocal crosses (such as the 998.6/1231 Pukos) are just as close to what you are shooting for. It's only because the 998.6 and the 1231 are from the same exact parents that this works.
Same is true for 1566. It is an exact reciprocal cross of the 1161. Same exact parents - same exact nuclear DNA.
You may be concerned about the mitochondrial and chloroplast DNA, which is worth considering, but I wouldn't be concerned, since it's a double first cousin away to start with.

It's a shame the majority of growers will never afford to grow a seed like the 1161.
