I have a 1791 Holland seed and from what photos I have seen there are a broad spectrum of results. Anyone that has grown this seed in 2014 what are your thoughts of the plant and fruit. Any pictures would be helpful as well.

I wish I had another one. Awesome plant, my first polination aborted [6 lobe looked like 2009] next polination 5 lobe on 7/13 weighed 1048 on 9/27 looked like the 1791 great orange color. The plant was pushing the fruit so much fluid was coming out of the skin [everywhere] for 2 weeks before harvest, there was a drip line on the ground around pumpkin. Looked like large raindrops on the fruit for 2 weeks.

Lost my 1791 to yellow vine disease in August. However, it was the prettiest looking fruit I have ever grown. Smooth and shiny and was becoming a dark orange.

My 1791 Holland was also a great plant, very nice orange pumpkin. Received 5 and a half inches of rain in 12 hours the end of August and it split. Ended up weighing 906 I will be planting it again in 2015

My 1791 was a pleasure to grow. October 5th developed a small pinhole next to the blossom weighed 1522 lbs. After using a little silicone it made the trip from Circleville, OH to Dunedin, Fla. for a giant jack-o-lantern for trick or treat night.

Hi grew my 1791 plant not in the best spot of the patch. I harvested a 1521 pumpkin on 650sqf plant. High orang cataluped fruit. it went 6% ligth.

Scott yep I checked their web site a week ago and they were sold out,thats just crazy.Maybe next year I will have the great pumpkin and sell some seeds.So far my biggest is 613.

Mine weighed 1647.5 lbs. good plant. Think it had more potential. I moved the kin first week of August and ended up breaking the main in half a foot before the kin. It still grew 36 ott after that. Went chart. Great shape also hand wind storm in July that wiped out 30% of the plant.

Joel never had the 1791 for sale on his website due to a low seed count. Clubs got their seed requests filled, a fortunate few who requested seeds got one, and Joel kept a handful for future crosses.

I'm looking for selfed and sib crosses for future plantings.

Thank you all for the many experiences, I will put it in the ground in 2015. I think I have a pretty good cross to go with it.... :) VTSteve it was for sale at the start of the 2014 season. I was fortunate and had foresight/gut feeling to buy in the spring, I assume now they will only be available in auctions.

The 1791 is an awesome seed with 1495 Stelts and 2009 Wallace genetics which certainly got my attention. I tilled up some lawn and planted it on a 23 X 29 foot plot. I leave 2 pumpkins per plant due to deer and woodchuck pressure.

My 1791 gave me a beautiful tall, smooth, dark orange 1287 pounder and a slightly lighter orange and rounder 1104 pounder. That's over 2300 pounds on 1 plant.

The 1287 was pollinated on July 16th with the 1813 Northrup and the 1104 was open pollinated. I will be planting both seeds next year.
I have tried to put pictures on my diary but continue to get a syntax error.

Thanks Slim - I emailed a picture to Pap and Ron to show what the 2009 genetics produced and that is exactly what Pap said "imagine what you might have had with just one on the plant".

At least I got 2 beauties for the wife to carve her magic into. She was featured on the Rochester ABC news for her carvings. The 1287 was carved into the movie " frozen".

I grew the 1791 Holland. It was a very tall and wide fruit, 38" . Unfortunately it developed a mouth at the blossom and split the first part of September. It grew 25 pounds a day for a month straight before it split. You can see some pic's in my diary. It weighed 1040 after a month sitting in the garden.

I grew this seed in 2014, 1791 x self. Grew a 1024.5 lbs. Plant was very good and had no problems. Pumpkin was a nice orange color. I will be growing my own seed next year to see what it can do. Seeds available if anyone is interested. Email me at twistedfender@hotmail.com

I grew the 1791 with a self pol the kin was small 190 but that was from lack of experience if I grew the seed from my 190 will I still have the chance of heavy weights ?
