I am going to try my 1472 mathison x 1544 mathison. The plant was problem free and the pumpkin when cut showed no signs of splitting anywhere. Certainly not because it was pretty. It was also my personal best in a year that was not the best around here.

I am going to be growing my 451.5 Weibel its the 1317 Clementz X 1985 Miller. I chose this cross because of the 1317 big round orange genetics (1495 x 2009) and the 1985 miller (2009 X 1725) the creator and the monster maker :)Mark has shown the power of the 1317 and Beni and many others have shown the power of the 2009 and 1985! I think I may have been the only one this year that made this cross! I think this seed could produce a monster :) I wish I could convince a heavy hitter to grow my seed !!

I will be growing my 2014 1449, (1400 uow Pappas X 1734.5 Steil). Its ancestry includes nearly all of the big seeds from the past on both sides of the family tree. This was my second personal best grown from one of my own seeds. Grow one of your own, you will be happy you did.

I'll be growing my own 471 (393fleming x 1649 Lancaster). It was second place at the Marshfield Fair this year. It was grown from my own seed 393 that was third place at last years Marshfield Fair. I plan to always grow my Marshfield Fair seed to take back the next year. I may try my other 783 but I didn't get many seeds and I have some other really good seeds to try.
P.S Did I plug the Marshfield Fair enough.

I always grow one of my own. How are you supposed to get others to believe in your seed if you don't. 1373 Engel (359 Foss 2013 x 1048 Engel 2012) Going to be the most beautiful offspring ever

We tried growing my son's 553 from 2013 because of the great orange color and it was a cross of our previous personal bests. We won't grow it again. Jacob had one get up to around 400# and quit growing around Labor Day. It didn't last until the weigh off. Another grower tried the seed and had a similar result. We will be growing our own long gourd seeds, along with the 139 and 137 Ansems.

Undecided. My 1160 Johnson UOW (1744 x 1429) was a great plant, Huge stump, long stem, best roots out of the 4 plants this year. Weighed twice as much as the next closest kin, in same conditions. Fruit was slow to grow and the vine didn't grow much after pollination I would estimate the plant ended up being under 300sqft, I'm assuming I under did the nitrogen. Anyways it was a 17" day 10, and 48" on day 20, way off pace for anything and it just never stopped growing even after cut. It was abnormal to say the least, I'm a firm believer a more experienced grower would of put this plant up there in weight. So why am I undecided, I miss the color orange in a pumpkin, simple as that really.

The most satisfying thing I've done in this hobby was to grow a Howard Dill winner from my own seed. Next year at least three of six plants will be my own.

DEFINATELY growing my own: 817 Bond 822 Bond 476 Bond 405 Bond (SQ) The first two have stellar potential, the third one is just too orange and pretty to resist, and number 4 is just my favorite all time dark greenie.

My 1139 dmg is a great cross that I will grow in 2015. It is 980 Fredricks x 1048 Engle. Should produce nice orange. Also my 982 from 2013 which is 1756 Lancaster x 2009 Wallace.

Finally after 3 years I was able to get one over 400lbs.My 1478 Scherber x 1479 Parenty went to 615lbs and then ran out of season. It was grown on 200 sq ft and had 30lb days.I don't have the space for it this year as I have several 2009 and 2032 crosses that I am excited about growing.I also want to thank the growers that gave out free seeds this year. This will really help the small growers get top genetics to work with.

The 1625 and the 1481 will see soil by me for sure both are 1495 stelts selfed... Both went heavy... Both will have a new papa added to them... I am hoping I can find a 1985 or a 2009 so I can change it up some... Or maybe a beni seed would work too...

I usually grow a few of my own. Why make the crosses if you don't intend to grow them. Plus you have the advantage of a abundance of seeds, can start numerous backups and double plant the planting area and select the strongest. I don't feel so bad selling those pumpkins either as you don't always get your seeds back or in the condition you would like.

Haven't grown my own for a while but my 333 UOW was a rock solid 1625 Gantner at about 7%.Was hit by downey mildew early August so pumpkin really slowed(not that mine get big anyway, lol).Pollintor 1024 Northrup plant(reverse cross 1813)grew my 511 lb entry in the 150 sq ft contest, also really shut down early August.May even get some orange as the 511 had color.Cross will have 75% 1495S,25% 1634W....

both greenhouses will be full of my 247 fp plants next year unless i grow AGs!!. The 181(162 x self)which grew the 247 was a WR for a short period. The 162 was also a WR fp. The 103 on the fathers side of my 247 grew another WR (209 Werner). The 181 also grew this years WR 211. Why would i not grow the 247dmg. I figure the 247 offspring will be very high, very wide and also very long

We always plant 1 of our own seeds. This past year our 1545 (1495 x 1789) grew our biggest at 1358# (1545 Hunt x 2009 W). I know it's not huge, but considering our cold weather, I think it did well to get to that number. The cross on the 1358 is solid & should produce some big kins. Good luck, Jane & Phil

I always grow a number of my own seeds of the 15 to 30 plants I tend to each year. With orders from the wife, the carver,I have been trying to come up with the perfect pumpkin being dark orange, smooth and taller than wider. I will definitely grow my 1287 from this year which was the 1791 Holland X 1813 Northrup.
