Did their line of pumpkins die out 30 years ago, or are their descendants being grown today?

kurt hermann in wisconsin may have some seed stocks with gancarz. I know he has some with 502 ciliberto which I believe has gancarz in it. I'll ask him next time we talk-hes not a internet guy.

From what I found you can trace this line right up to some of the largest grown today. Been looking into that on the genetics page. Pretty amazing, the Lloyd genetics have a lot of this seed line in their background. Hope that helps...

The Gancarz brothers are Hall of Famers, but honestly, their genetics are so washed out that I don't think you can attribute any with todays results. The big ones, 935 Lloyd, 845 Bobier, 723 Bobier, 867 Mombert, 1446 Eaton, 1420 Larue and 898 Knauss are many descendants ahead of any Gancarz crosses. Robert and Ed Gancarz are the only brothers that grew world records separately, but their genetics have gone by the wayside.

567.5 Mombert and Ciliberto carry on; maybe others
There are some original seed-lines preserved in some seed stashes that might still be viable from a 2002 replication project but the best specimen had all seeds lost to rodents

send me an SASBP and you may get lucky if I get it when I have a spare moment and am sifting through the seed vault next month when planning for planting; if I had a secretary I could make sure you got some seeds
