I have been very fortunate to have acquired these seeds for this season. Regardless of the outcome, this is a cross that I will plant many times, pending the 898 germs which is a long shot.

Andy, what about this cross turns your genetic crank?

I have a 1420.5 La Rue wonder if it might still germinate.

Glenn, the 1910 is a sexy seed, look at the cross. Like a lamborghini making out with a 67 Mustang fast back. Now pollinate this stud with, arguably, the best pollinator of all time. Oooh I'm getting tingly.

Seedsower, you're killing me! 1420 Larue, one of my all time favs. Give it a shot. Hell, I'll drive an hour for some pollen.

I'll be growing the 1910 too. Do you think this would be a good cross?

I'm thinking about it, have a lot of older seeds but some good seeds I received this year.

898 is old technology, there are far better crosses to make with that baby!

titanic, does old technology deter from the genetic possibility of the 898? Peace, Wayne

I have been watching for signs of life from that 898. Come on make it pop. The pollinator of the 901 Hunt was an 898 Knauss...the 901 grew rocks. I have one 901 seed left..thinking about trying to get it to go this summer.

I guess the question is how much is genetics responsible for increasing weights? I'd say quite a bit. to get a good answer, someone needs to sacrifice a season and use old seeds, 898, 998 pukos, 723 bobier, 1068 Wallace and see what they do with modern growing techniques. theres a reason heavy hitters don't use seeds from a generation ago.

Eight days and still nothing. Looks ok though, 90 temps. Here's hoping.

Andy, I tried some old seeds 12-14 years old and 0 germination. Think I will start putting new seeds in freezer.

If you had a 1068 seed..I would bet there would be many heavy hitters that would be willing to try to grow it. The reason they are not grown now..there are no seeds left.

Andy, How did you make out with the 898 Knauss, did you get it to germinate.
