The world record bell pepper was grown by a well known member of this site. John Nieunwenhoff weighed a 695 gram (1 lb 8.51 oz) pepper at the Erin Fall Fair Giant Vegetable Weigh-off. You might contact the GVGO, they might have an idea of seed availability.

There will be seeds from the same strain from 500-600g peppers in almost all the GVGO and EGVGA membership packs. There will be some 695g seeds available in a GVGO message board silent auction sometime later this winter. There are some also on the way to the PGVG for their auction and some will be in the GPC raffle held during the convention. The rest of the 695's have been pretty much spoken for or already given out. I've kept 25 for myself and will likely grow at least half them next year. I also have a few for sale on World Class Gardening where I use the money raised there to put towards our donation to our local weigh off at the Erin Fall Fair. There will also be a few for sale at the Giant Veg site in UK run by Kevin Fortey to help raise money for his local weigh off as well.

Gad's...jjust curious? Is the 6.95# bellpepper, the same as the 695 gram (1 lb 8.51 oz) bellpepper that bnot talked about? Seems a little odd to me? But what do I know? I can NOT imagine how big a pepper would be to weigh 7#'s!! Hope it is true!! Peace, Wayne

Pumpkin Shepard is the Guinness champ Oct 5, 2017 - The heaviest bell pepper is a 695-g (1-lb 8.51-oz) Capsicum annuum grown by John Nieuwenhoff (Canada) and verified on 5 October 2017 at the Erin Fall Fair Giant Vegetable Weigh-Off held in Erin, Ontario, Canada. Congratulations John.

I am only at 50 % on green pepper's in my first try...I have a seedling in soil that is growing really slowly...but it is still alive. My hydro try i gave up on tonight. I think that nearly all of John's seeds have WR potential. The GVGO fall newsletter has a really good article about John and how he grew the WR pepper. I like the statement he made...if you can grow a 5 pound tomato..you have a chance to grow the WR bell pepper. Gives me hope. I hope that a few growers will give these plants a try...I have only just started and I am hooked.
