I have done some reasearch and found out from the grower diary that the 1945 paton was picked in mid-late August and was weighed over 20 days later at the time it was picked it was growing about 18lbs a day. I have also found out that Nobody knows which of the two 1949 pollinated the 2269. If it was my choice I would rather grow the 2269 if it was pollinated by the one that grew the 1945 than the one that grew the 2048 ( In both ways the 2269 is still a great seed). My question is would the 1945 be = to the 2269 if the 2269 was pollinated by the plant that grew the 1945 and if it is does that mean that I should just grow the 1945 because that will ensure that it has the genetics of the plant that grew the 1945 instead of the 2048

Also the 1945 had a somewhat late pollination date compared to his other plants

Until they are grown it is hard to say which one has that something special.
If there was ever a chance to prove if pumpkins are genetically equal , this is it .Both in the same patch, grown in equal conditions both 1949's and same pollinator.

The thing is they are unknown if they are the same pollinator it could have been from the other 1949 plant he had

What is known is that both the 1944 and 2048 had the 2624 as the pollinator. According to their diary there was only one 2624 so it is a pretty good bet that it was the pollinator of both 1949's. The 2624 grew the 2269. What has not been answered is which of the 1949's was the pollinator of the 2624 that grew the 2269.
Either way , you know the pollinator of the 2269 grew a big pumpkin.

I'll try to get the info from them in Portland.I kinda like the 2048 side better because of the shape-that prob. had more in it than 2048 cause of spray damage and powdery mildew.

Ian told me they're not sure which 1949 plant they used to pollinate the 2269 fruit.
