What seed has been proven to produce 2000 Lbers consistently? Also what polinator has been proven to produce 2000 Lbers consistently?

You can also just look at the end of year GPC standings for pumpkins on this website. Over the last couple of years, there are only about 20 a year grown, by just 14 growers worldwide. The GPC standings will give you the mother seed and the pollinator.

None. If there was a seed out there that consistently produced or pollinated 2000 lbs, there would be a lot more people attaining that weight. Even the best seeds out there have grown far more under than over. There were some stats posted on the site which ones produced the best percentages but far from consistently. A lot has to do with who is growing what seed plus other variables. Just my opinion from watching this site.

Well, when just looking at the total number of 2000+ fruit grown, how would you rate a seed that has produced twice as many 2000+ pounders than the other (but has been grown 3 or 4 times as often...which then is info you can´t get out of your query)?

it may start with the seed but without the entire package
-weather-program-skill-knowledge-products-growing a 2,000 plus pounder will not happen.Even with all that in your favor sometime seeds are like children-not all develop the same.

also--todays seed stocks from the top pumpkins/growers all have the power to get you over 2k.

That's a good thread, supdder. Last winter I looked at 2145's that made it to scale that came from growers that brought more than one that season. It was an attempt to control for all the other variables that go into growing a kin that pap mentioned.

Pre-WR, there didn't look to be a difference in how big the kins were, but not a lot of 2145s were grown to compare. Post WR, the 2145s were on average a bit bigger (100ish lbs if I remember). So maybe there is something "special" about the seed. Otherwise, growers may just give preferential treatment to the seed they just dropped $500 on. I should look at the numbers with 2019 results included.

Just looking at the top 20 pumpkins from 2019, half or so were from 2018 seeds that by definition weren't "proven."

Or just grow a 2003 Haist. 30% of the seeds that have been grown have been over 2k, and 50% over 1900! Don't mind the fact that most of these were grown by someone who is among the best of the best.

Very thankful for that sputter. Very informative, do you know if there is a cross between the 2150 and the 2145? Also, I thought about the 2003 Haist, but it does not come cheap:(. I also completely agree with you pap about the growing conditions.

The Tobeck 1404.5 is a cross between the 2145 and 2150. I am growing it this season.

Do you know where to get that seed. There was also a 1155 Gadbbery seed that is a 2145 ×self, do you think it would be good?
