Everything I own is Troybilt. Six pieces. But they were all purchased before they were bought out by MTD. I do not know about the newer equipment. The old stuff was built to last. I was told that they tested the chipper/shredder by dropping a cement brick in it. Then making anything that broke or bent stronger. I've been doing custom garden tilling in the springtime for 24 years. I wouldn't use anything else. On the flip side though, I do not have anything to compare it to. Never had to.

i have a older troybuilt with a kohler engine for 300 bucks in ohio not far of drive.Jerry

There you go! Buy the older Troybilt. As long as you keep clean oil in it you'll have it forever. Cast Iron K Series Kohler's are the best but due to emissions requirements, they're not made any more.
