I have the oppurtunity to buy some 40-60% shade cloth. They have eye hook holes on 3 sides. They guy is willing to make a deal if I buy it all. Is anyone here interested in some of this? If I can get some of it spoken for I'll go pick up the whole lot. It is supposed to be in perfect condition and came off of a greenhouse that went out of business.
this is what he says he has.
5 sheets of 48' x 24' 6 sheets of 60' x 24' 10 sheets of 12' x 16'
I can buy it all for $2500. What do you guys think?

You might want to go to Lee valley tools and compare it cost wise by area as they sell a good shade cloth I have used in the past

.16/sq ft is a great deal if indeed it's in good shape, shipping might be a deal breaker you need to check that before committing to selling it
also there are different types of shade cloth materials durabilty is a factor, but at that price well worth investigating more
OR tell the guy about your giant pumpkin plans,,sometimes sellers just can't resist helping us out,,maybe break it up and sell you what you actually need at that price ;-)

I bought 900 sq ft for 125 dollars a few years ago and they put the grommets where you wanted them and can make what ever size you want. The cloth that I bought blocked 30% of the sun. That is about as much as I would want to block. They do sell the different percentages. I can get the number if you would like to check with them. Doug Jn 3:16

Years ago I bought some of of this place: http://www.igcusa.com/greenhouse-shade-cloth.html
I was surprised at how inexpensive the shipping was. Shade cloth is very light and they had it compressed down into what I thought was a very small package for it's size. They also sell a plastic snap-on grommet that works very well, you can place them wherever you need them.

No expert here, but I'm with One Dude on this one. I think 30% block would be the most you'd want. Of course, I've never tried to grow anything in the deep south.
