We have Winter Rye available in 5 lb bags for $7.99!
~Winter rye excellent winter cover crop because it rapidly produces a ground cover that holds soil in place against the forces of wind and water. ~Winter rye grows faster in the fall and adds organic matter once tilled under. ~Winter Rye will tolerate temperatures as low as -30°F once it is well established. ~It can germinate and grow at temperatures as low as 33°F. ~Winter Rye's deep roots help prevent compaction in annually tilled fields, and because its roots are quite extensive, ~Winter Rye also that helps prevent soil from becoming compacted in annually tilled fields.

Thanks! Tom
Rye's deep root system enables it to pull necessary nutrients from the soil..
In a no-till situation, it also can help control weeds

wayne, it will cover a min. of 1500 sq ft. it really depends on how thick you apply it. my first year I used 7 lbs for 3000 sq. it was a light cover, but it helped to keep the soil from washing away with heavy rains and big snow storms. Winter rye is great due to the fact that it will grow in temps down to approx 33 degrees and it's roots run deepm pulling up nutrients from deeper soil, the OM that you will get from tilling it in, in the spring is carrying these nutrients.
