Bohica (Tom)

I will have 10 - 3.8 CF Bales of Premier Pro Mix BX available for $26.00 each.
I've been using Pro Mix BX for years, and will not use anything else to start any of my competitive plants, veggies, or replant any flowers.
In my opinion, it is the best growing media available.
Please let me know asap as these will go fast.
Thanks,
Tom

Why buy overpriced Peat Moss when you can get perlite/pumice and Peat Moss separately for about 1/3 less? Add a little bit of humate and some kelp meal, sprinkle some mycorrhiza in with your plant and you're good to go.

In my opinion, it is not the best growing media available. I've been using a peat-based mix for years using the above ingredients and gotten much better results. I recommend Alaska or Premier brands in the US though, as I've had them tested to know they contain good microbial life.

Hey Tad,
What do you mean by "gotten much better results"? Better than what? It sounds generic and hollow.

Mark,
That is a personal attack on Tom. It is totally uncool and unwarrented.

Tom has never screwed me on anything I have bought from him and supplies good products for the growing community.

Alright Tad, did Tom take your milk money as a kid or mabey kick sand in your face on the beach. Possibly he peeed in your Yule Gibbons all natural bowl of grape nuts. Now before you get your all natural fiber hemp panties in a bunch it seems as if this back and forth about mycro has turned into a anytime Tom post a product ( on the for sale list) you feel the need to immediately attack. Now before you waste your time responding to me save it. Amelio has just gotten a visitor in the blocked folder.

$26 is an awesome price for Pro-mix BX bales. I pay $38 on sale at my local grow store. I have used Pro-mix BX and HP in the greenhouse for years and it's a wonderful media. I like the HP a little better because it drains better, but both work great for me.

Handyman, BOHICA stands for Bend Over Here It Comes Again, it is a well known acronym used to indicate that an adverse situation is about to repeat itself, and that submission is the wisest course of action, now I know that this may get you all hot and bothered, and you want to in some way dream up that this is my master business plan and only you, yes only handyman was wise enough to put all of the secret pieces of the puzzle together to figure this out (thank heavens we have you around to keep a catalog of all things evil and sinister in the pumpkin community), but dont get your panties in a bunch, it is what I named my 67 mustang after we beefed it up and use to race it.

Tad...lol....are you for real, are you really going to continue to follow me around and try to discredit everything I say? You need a hobby brother, this man crush that you have is almost akward now...

Nope guys, no issues here. Just was trying to share some more information with people on how they can save money and end up with a better product than something they would buy commercially.

My focus lately has been towards moving away from expensive commercial products that are highly processed, and using less processed goods as well as trying to incorporate more sustainable practices into my gardening.

In this instance, I just don't see the point in buying products that you can source yourself at the local feed store for 1/2 the price. Nothing personal....if I wanted to follow Tom around, I'd have posted stuff about the quality of his compost tea brewers (my area of knowledge) or the fact that you can usually get recycled pots free at your local nursery (his other recent post).

Personally, I have no issues with Tom.

I limit my posting to things I have some knowledge/experience in, that it.

I guess if people are interested in learning more they can email me.

I talked to Tom today and I will refrain from posting on threads where he is selling any products. I apologize for any issues that may have created, it was not intended as a personal attack.

Matt-man, commenting on someone's character you don't know show poor judgement and character in my opinion. (see how easy it is to judge someone without ever taking the time to know them or their intentions?).

Premier Pro Mix Bx is good stuff, and $26/bale is an excellent price.

Yes, you can make your own generic mix comparable to what Tom is selling, but it might cost you more than what Tom is selling his product for, when all is said and done. It's up to growers to compare prices for homemade vs prepared.

Lastly, Tom is selling what he hears people need and want at reasonable prices. He tries to make ExtremePumpkin Store a one-stop experience, plus he offers advice based on the experience of world-class growers, as well as his own.

This is not about pro mix. Or why would you even bring up the pots.

Easy guys, let's not make a bigger deal out of this than it is. I already apologized to Tom for posting on his thread. It was NOT intended to be a personal attack. For that product it is a good price. My post was intended only to point out other options for starting seeds/seedlings, but apparently I offended some people by posting it on this thread. I already made peace with Tom on this, so can we let it go?

Thanks,
Tad

Sure Tad do a hit and run. Then when others express there comments on your comments now you want to let it go. This seams to be your repeated tactics. We all heard your opinions on this. So stop beating a dead horse.

Well Darren, then I apologize to you as well for offending your delicate sensibilities. I didn't realize you had such a strong opinion on something that didn't involve you. What's it going to take to make you feel better about my original post? I'd gladly go back and delete if I could to avoid all the trouble it seems to have caused.

You do realize this is the first time I've ever posted on one of Tom's threads, right? I'm not trying to create drama, even though certain people sure seem to want to stir the pot...

I see you bash on now 3 of tom's products. When you attack a small business man's products you attack man. Especially if you in the same room with a bunch of others. I see you like some others products then talk about them. Your stab then smile tactics is what offended my delicate sensibilities. If your apologies was ever real then I would except them. But they are just tools to you. So you can take the high road after you drop a bomb.

Darren,

Look, I just had a rough day. And then I have to get on here and see your posts. Who are you exactly? And why are you so invested in something that doesn't involve you? Are you just looking to create a rivalry or problem that doesn't exist? Tom and I talked on the phone a couple of times. I have zero issues with him and have already sincerely apologized to him for posting on his thread. While I may have my opinions about the Pro Mix, I have learned that this is not the place to share them and I have no wish to effect Tom's business out of respect for him. If you are referring to the myco thread, he did not start it and I did not bash his products on there. I shared some information on mycorrhiza. I have never made a personal attack at him or anyone else on here, regardless of what people have said about me. I'm not posting anymore on this thread because obviously you are just looking to argue for no reason. If you wish to contact me privately, feel free to do so. Or, you can just block me so you don't have to view any of my posts.

Have a great day,
Tad

Darren apparantly just likes to provoke certain people, he did it to Amelio a couple of weeks ago after Amelio's posts had started becoming a lot tamer.

I'm just someone in a public room, that you came into bashing a good person. Sorry if you don't like me for that. If you can give him a hard time, then why can't I do the same to you?

Firstly, premier pro mix bx is a great product not just for starting your seedlings...but can be added by the bale to your patch and tilled in....it helps the overall tilth of your soil and the earthwoms seem to love the stuff!!

Secondly, it is a Canadian company..so please buy as much as you can...helps our economy!!

Lastly...Handyman...I thought you were done posting on bigpumpkins.com after your last run in (again) with yet another person. You seem to "get off" on being an instigator and stirring the pot to create drama...life is too short to keep making the same mistakes...learn from your life lessons and try not to keep repeating them.
