I'd like to acquire a lifting tarp - I don't have the facilities for lifting so carrying will have to do for me.
Since most everyone has moved away from tarps to lifting rings now I'd guess there are a lot of surplus tarps taking up space. Anyone that would like to part with one please let me know. My email is reckhard1@yahoo.com

Have you checked out Dumpster in a Bag at Home Depot? $29.95 It measures 2-1/2 ft. H x 4 ft. W x 8 ft. L and will hold 3300 pounds. The handles may need to be modified.

That's a good idea Robin. Handles could be added. There's a tarp handle called a grabbit for about $5 sold online. Might just work to add one of these on each end.

Check that - the Grabbit handles are only duty tested to 50 lbs. Not really suitable for AG. The watermelon guys might like them though!

not sure the dumpster in a bag is much more than a heavy duty tarp in the shape of a box. Still no handles which is really what I'm in need of.

Dumpster in a bag has handles- and they are strong enough to lift the capacity. They are only on the sides however and very long. There are none on the ends so getting a crew around it could be challenging without some modification.
