I am a first time giant pumpkin grower with a giant in my garden. Does any one have any tips or instructions on making a ring lift harness type of apparatus? Any instruction or leads would be very appreciated.

Watch this video. You can use 3-4 tow straps instead of a ring. Use a clevis to hold the straps on the hoist
