On the soil test from A & L labs it says ( a cu yd-- 1'' depth of humus per 1000 sq ft ,,,, If you do the math A cu yd is only 324 sq ft, If put on at 1 inch depth . It would take just over 3 yds to put 1 in on 1000 sq ft , IM not understanding something i guess ?? or what ???

Fissssh, 100' x 100'= 1,000 square feet. x 1" of compost will take 30.864 cubic yards of compost to cover the area your talking about.

My Mistake..................100 x 10 = 1,000 square feet So the programs answer is......3.0864 yards. Put it's almost impossible to cover any soil at 1 inch. Unless you had some expensive machine to put 1 inch and no more..............

There saying to add 1 yd to make 1 inch --per 1000 sq ft ! that dont sound right to me , like you said- just slightly over 3 yds .

Post exactly what the soil test states...word for word...or, even better, put a copy of the results in your diary. It could be a bit of confusion.

I used that Pioneer sand web site before. I imported over 50 tons of Colorado moss rock here for waterfall construction. It is a big hit here.

Organtic matter: Aim for levels above 5% to ensure good tilth. A cubic yard (1"depth of "humus" per 1000 sq ft) may raise a 6" depth of soil by about 1% initially. mix in well ahead of planting.

Well, no confusion there! Maybe an email to A&L is in order to let them know of the mistake.
