I switched labs this year and I have never had N reported on tests before. I simply read the plants and make foliar applications when necessary.

If any of you have experience with N levels and the relevance on spring tests versis finale success in October,, could you please post your figures or email me with the info.

Congratulations....you likely know more by observation than any soil test can show you with the exception of wild excesses which of course should be adjusted or stopped being used if possible.

A load of manure is likely all the N you need if fall added. The addition of low number organnic ferts like 4-2-4. and kelp plus trace minerals satisfies N needs while anything else we do tweeks up the support using fish and kelp foliar. If you need anything else it would be a very soft approach such as using AGRO K or equal parts there of as found in your country. We still need the leaves and cover crop as best we can provide. I try not to let a soil test get in the road of good common sense basics.

Being that you have been in a long cold winter I would guess a NO3-N test this time of year would yield rather low numbers. If you have well developed patch dirt and have been adding compost and other amendments in good amounts your NO3-N #'s will increase substantually as your ground warms and the bugs begin the nitrogen cycle in earnest.
The PAN or plant availible Nitrogen result(if you have one) would be a better indicator of N. It is based more on organic Nitrogen numbers and a certian percent of N becoming availible through the growing season.
I agree with Doc. if you are unsure of your test #'s dont let let them get in the road of common sense, or your big pumpkin experiences.

Thanks guys it was a shot in the dark that some of the HH's might make a post with thier past numbers here for a point of reference,,and yes I fully understand the intracies that are involved with soil tests,,,,
