Just wondering if I should add manure to my entire patch or just around the area where the seed will be planted? Thanks!

Everywhere that the vines & roots will reach. The roots should extend about 20% beyond the vine area so amend that entire area.

I tried growing in a manure pit. I only got away with it because the native soil is so sandy but elsewhere I coulkd have caused a problem.

Hilling the main crown area is a good idea in heavy clay.

I suggest a 15 foot circle---a stake were baby is going and 15 foot string hook to it and walk it around--put the food in that cirle--craig

Pumpkins love manure! You can easily add 4" of manure to your entire patch if it is available.
