I was reading a post in the New Grower's section. I have been using leaves for years in my patch but didn't think much about what kinds. Tremor said maple, birch and ash were good and oak was not. How about poplar? About 1/4 of the trees on my property are poplar. Andy H.

These are a hybrid poplar with very broad leaves. They are about 10 years old and over 40 feet tall. I don't know the exact species but they are similar to what you would find in the wild.
