From what I have read pumpkins require and thrive on calcium. Can you get too much and if so what is the # we should shoot for. My Ph is in good shape so I have been using gypsum to raise my calcium.....can I get to much sulfur by doing this?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It does have sulphur and you should get a soil test to see if you already have high sulfur. Otherwise, there's no bad time to add gypsum. It's better done now to work in. But, you can add even when the pumpkin's growing. There's liquid calcium products too. I use more than 40lbs of gypsum on 400sq/ft each year. I also use liquid calcium in August and Sept. No ill effects and a bigger pumpkin. Best wishes Greg

What is your soils current status. I would caution against adding Gypsum or any other substance without a soil test. Too much Ca does cause problems in the uptake of K and Mg. Soil test first and find the saturation ratio. Levels of 5 and 7 to 1 of Ca:mg and comfortable.
