I think I can do this, but with the cold weather, I think my compost pile has stopped working. I went out yesterday (52 degrees) and turned my pile, and for the first time it wasnt smoking or hot. I think the frigid cold we have had finally shut it down, but yesterday I added a bunch of molasses to the pile after a complete turn and aeration to try and feed the microbes and bacteria. Will this work? Pile does look awesome and black, something I am very happy about, I just want to cook it as much as possible to burn out the weed seed.

Still nothin on the carp hole, I will let you know soon. I know the Milltown Creek inlet usually has quite a few at the river joint.

Rocky, I leave my huge compost pile sitting all winter. I never turn it during the winter. I checked my pile last week and at two feet down, it was 80 in most spots. I was shocked. Because we have had quite a few days this winter that was close to 0 and a few -12 degree nights.

Dan, jumped my thought...maybe it is done cookin, and is ready for yer 1500# patch...my guess would be that if it is not steamin no more, it has already been as hot as it will be!!! Time to spread it... if it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck...prbly a duck!!! I mean, if it smells like and looks like compost...it prbly is!!! Peace, Wayne

Thx for all the input! I think it is done also, I am just wanting to make sure all the cooking is done so the weed seed is low low low. In about 2 - 3 weeks I will spread it and add some powdered kelp, humic acid, and start my quest for 1000 pounds. I gotta get there before my Honesdale friend Ned does.

I betcha if ya layer it with alfalfa pellets, wetting the pellets as ya rebuild the pile, in 3 days she will be smoking again.....it works...trust me!
