This will be the first time I'll use the same garden twice, since we moved back in May. So, I don't know very much about adding leaves to the soil...Is it ok to add in any type of leaves?

Lawnmower would be best. I get all of the leaves spread out and then run over them several times until they are mostly shredded.

Don't use too many current season Oak leaves. They contain enough tannin to resist decaying. Maple, Birch, Ash, etc are cool. Black Strap Molasses will pick up bacteria to jump start decay.
