I need to enlarge my patch for next year to fit two plants instead of one plant. Is there anything I need to do now to get it ready for next year? Do I need two soil tests for the old area and the enlarged area? Also if the test for yvd is positive do I have to start a new patch or does the bacteria not live in the soil?

Everything I've read says get separate soil tests for each patch especially if one has a different history - ie your existing one might have already had ammendments done.
