I plan to add 2" of loam to my patch before planting this season. Should I till the soil before, or after adding the loam?

I suppose, with a minimum of confidence in light of all these other responses, LOL, that to till in anything first, especially foreign soil that would be best if incorporated for the native soil to acclimate and adjust to, would be my initial tendency.
I suppose then, after a couple weeks of this, a soil test would be taken, amendments applied from those recommendations and tilling-in of all of that would occur...and planting would begin.
I'm sure someone would think 'Hey just till it in in a small area and go with THAT result,
THEN till all of it in when it's ALL set and done' ; No doubt. Whichever would work.

Depends how well/deep you want it mixed in. Tillers really only go about 6-8 inches deep, so you could be incorporating 2" of loam into 4" of soil. Or you could break it up, and till in a bit at a time if you want to work the loam deeper into the soil
