Dear Grower,
We (Frank and Tina Finders) are contacting you because we feel there is a void in the South. We started growing pumpkins here in SC in 2008 and we found that there was little to no information available about growing in the heat and humidity.
Shure,,,shade and water that was obvious, but specifics about those two or about pest and disease control was hard to come by,,,or should I say impossible.
Now learning as you go is a great way, but it takes years and you only get one shot a year, so there must be a better way to make progress, a faster way. And that would be by sharing what we learn every year. Exchanging that knowledge, passing it on and maybe finding some of the things that have been missing from our skill set. Lets join forces!
What we want to create is a knowdlege base, and a meeting place for Southern Growers. We dont get plants to grow 110 days like up north, our leaves get burned,,,garanteed, it doesnt get colder then 95 for months on end, and 99% humidity is nothing new to us. Those are things that Southern Growers deal with every season and together we can find the best way possible to do so. We are convinced that uniting Southern Growers will help increase weights and will have an overall positive effect for growing in the South. It will create and extend your network beyond your current circle of growing friends and increase your growing knowledge.
