lol, Michel! germination failure first, frost after that and then cold weather, rain and hail for the rest of the season...lol

Yup Martin,
You forgot snails, mice, crows, wind, vandalism and a few other factors I think...LOL! I had 100% germination last year and have confidence in my method but I am afraid of frost even if I have remay or small greenhouses for each plant.

I am the best at losing great plants but this year I think I can at least save them from frost. I am concentrating on the Ried patch with 9 plants, and I will only have one other large patch in the same area that you visited with the Howden Field pumpkins. Isabel really wants to help this year so I'm hoping we will have some luck. The home patch will have the 869.5 Calai if she grows and a BACKUP or TWO!

Nice hearing from you Lars!
I think I had that covered under 'vandalism'.

We are having a tiny bit of snow here lately but not much is sticking to the ground. It got up to 8 and 10 degrees here and spring fever got a hold of me. We either need a deep freeze here soon or I will have to start doing some practice germinations just so I don't go completely crazy.

Martin, Any definite seed plans yet?

MusikPete told me he will be concentrating on 723 x 846 crosses and the reverse cross this year. It certainly has potential but I need a big seed reserve next fall of ag seeds that will produce orange...and therefore my 869.5, 801.5 plantings. I hope it works out!

Anyone else growing a squash? In europe it would be easy to send male flowers since they get there within a day usually. I will be glad to help anyone with 552 Sherwood males if they need them and it grows...
