Ok, I`m going to put my plants out from the pots into the patches (am way to late, plants do already have 3-4 real leafs) ... what are your experiences with tghe rule that the vine goes opppsite the first true leaf?

i believe this to be true more often then not. the only other advice that i have is that when you transplant set them into the soil at an angle so that they are already leaning in the direction you want them to grow.

Every pumpkin has it´s own opinion! (lol) If the vine is going the wrong way you may train it in the direction you wish. You can do this with little bamboo sticks you stick beside the vine. But do that safely, do not turn the vine to much.

Completely agree with Owen.

Opposite direction (more or less) of the first true leaf has been our experience 90% of the time. Another good trick when transplanting is to dunk the seedling pot and all in a warm (weak) solution of seaweed for a few minutes before transplanting.

I agree with approximately opposite direction of the first true leaf and I agree with planting it at a nice angle but in my experience the pumpkin plants all shoot straight up after a day or two even if planted at a nice angle like my 869.5 Calai this year.

It is always stressful to try to bring the pumpkin vine down slowly, and only then can I relax a bit.
