This year I am not in the race for pumpkins, except for the local contest.
But where will grow our new champion this year?
Belgium?

From here it works like this:
Go to "Home", then top left under "Main menu" to "Photo gallery", then under "Member photo albums" you have to scroll downward to "Seaman".

If this won't work, maybe ask the WebMaster.

Theo, what about our virtual head to head competition? Do we have to focus on squash now or how shall we do? I will have to take a pic of my squash fruit then. I think you are a little ahaed for the squash. I might be a little ahaed with the pumpkins.

Heino, My squash should be a pumpkin and I have no proper space for a second fruit.
So I am out the race for pumpkins, ok, lost.

But what about Brad, Iwan, Harry, they are Dutch and grow nice pumpkins!! lol

A true green squash starts green and keeps green or turns to grey.

Yep, I grow pumpkins - a day 30 of about 500 lbs - had to chop off 2.5 metres of the main vine this evening on the 1287 due to rot. Now only half a plant without a stump. This thing was on track for a 1200+ last week, but the game is over.

Lost a metre of the 1095 Wallace as well this evening. Hope the rot doesn't spread down the vines or to the other plants.

Still have a "secret" weapon in the patch though :)

Theo, what counts is the weight of the fruit. I don`t care if squash or pumpkin. So, the race is still on. I think your squash looks real good, better than mine (see my latest diary entries). It is a personal head-to head competition between theo and me, because we had alsmost the same weights last years and sure both try to improve. Not allowed to involve others growers now theo, lol!

Theo, I think it`s the angry spirits of all those dead fish skulls that put a green spell on your fruit.

True green squashes turn grey? I think it is "green at pollination, grenn when growing, green at weigh off", sometimes maybe a greyish green or greenish grey.

HW, nice looking squash too!

This fruit I have was green and is still green.
On top a bit more grey now.
Today 162kg.
the fishheads are under the pumpkin which has only 5% of the good space and grows not too big, 80 kg so far, logic.

Anyway we'll see what happens...:-)
