Seeing as Eddy Zaychkowsky (ice-man) set me up with a few excellent seeds in his crazy trade (see seed exchange message board), I would like to pass along the spirit.

Up for grabs is the 1142 Van Kooten 04.
F. 1066 Vezzolo 02 (845 Bobier x self)
M. 1367.5 Rose 03 (723 Bobier x 845 Bobier)

This seed is currently ranked 29 in the world.
It has grown 2x 900, 2x 1100 and 1x 1287.

The male 1367.5 produced a 1033. The 1066 produced the 1142 and a 958 on the same plant!

I will also throw in a 745 Wursten 06.

Here are the contest rules:

1. You have to live in Europe.
2. You have to write a poem in your native tongue (your own language) about pumpkins.
3. The poem doesn't have to rhyme but must be 4 or more lines.
4. The contest closes on Saturday morning GMT.
5. My wife and 5 month old son will help pick the winner.

PS. I will be growing a 1142 myself in the near future but don't have room for two.

Plötsligt var den bara där, så stor och gul som solen. Kanske hade hade den falit ned från månen en gråtung augustidag. Kanske hade den spolats upp från havet jagad av blodtörstiga pirater med kniv i hand. Här vill jag bo tänkte den nog när den såg mitt vackra pumpaland.

Ik vijlde de randen van je begin,
en vanaf dat moment hielden we de groei erin.
Ik snoeide je ranken verwijderde het kruid,
Bestoof je bloem, jij bolletje met geel glimmende huid.
Het groeien duurde een dag of tachtig.
Je huid werd oranje, echt prachtig
Je gewicht is ernorm en te tillen met de hand niet te doen.
Je bent met recht een "reuzenpompoen".

Compost, wat blaadjes en koeienstront, en toen ging het
zaadje in de grond. ik gaf het flink water en het
groeide heel snel, want 3, 400kilo dat wilde ik wel.
Daar kwamen de bloemen in volle pracht, en ik maar bevruchten vlak na de nacht. In mijn klein tuintje voor dag
en dauw, hopen dat er eentje pakken zou. Onder stress en gepieker ging ik gebukt, maar toen ging hij groeien, het was me gelukt! Hij werd groter en groter sprong bijna uit
zijn voegen, het betaalde zich uit al dat harde zwoegen.
Zo werd het oktober, het zaadje was klaar, en nu was de vraag, is ie wel zwaar? Dus kwam daar de tractor met en lifting ring, zag er niet stevig uit dat wankele ding! De reus werd getild, en plots een grote krak!
En daar lag op de grond een grote prak!
Daar lag hij gebroken, net als mijn hart, De pijn zou lang duren, mijn leven was zwart. Maar ook al was het niet leuk, zelfs klote en zwaar, je kunt het altijd opnieuw doen er is altijd nog volgend jaar!

3rd place: Eaglewood - much too violent :)

My son of five months says:
1st place: Eaglewood - it's the shortest
2nd place: Iwan - it's the second shortest
3rd place: the cook - way too long

I say:
1st place: the cook - what a hoot!
2nd place: Eaglewood - I love Swedish
3rd place: Iwan - can't finish 2nd every time :)

Only the 1142 was up for grabs. Because all three contestants did so well, I threw in two extra seeds related to the 1142 for the "losers". The 1367.5 was the father to the 1142, that's all.

I do have a 1367.5 though and hope to grow it next year.
