Today I tried both.

I seems weight via one way of measuring gives for 2 pumkins a difference of more than 200 Lbs....
Than say the pumpin is 10% less heavy or heavier, that means the estimated weigth might be easy 200 Lbs or more different than the estimation!

Thank God I tried both ways now, I know something! :-)

Circumference measuring is very inaccurate. The circumference chart said that my squash two years ago weighed about 1550 lbs. The OTT said it weighed 1193.

But even the OTT is very inaccurate if you have a tall, short pumpkin (like a wheel). The weight that is on the top of the pumpkin is usually at the back of the pumpkin. So this weight does not get measured when you tape the circumference, only when you tape SS and EE. If it is at the back of the pumpkin, like normal, it will add many inches to the CC measurement.

I think your Ghaye will go heavy Theo!

If it will go heavy, it might be a danger to Iwans position in Sliedrecht, may be yours? LOL :-)

I still did not get news from Harry Poels, I'll try to phone him, to know if he joins to Sliedrecht too.

I am wondering about the number of Dutch growers appearing there in Sliedrecht. :-S
In 2006 in Asten it was so limited...:-(

We have 30+ pumpkins and squash pre-registered. There will be more on the day itself I think. There are about 25+ non-pumpkin entries as well.

I think your pumpkin will have to be very heavy! lol
Perhaps my pumpkin will be a new PB. I don't know how big Iwan and Harry's pumpkins are now.

That is a very good number, Brad, great!

A new PB pumpkin for you, Brad? Wow, let's see next week saturday!

Still more pumpkins being registered! It is going to be busy. We should have had our own real weigh-off years ago.

Let me know if Harry is going to come.

Rob Verlinden, from the TV program "Eigen huis en tuin", will be there to present the heaviest ten pumpkins and a potential world record in one of the giant vegetable classes.

Earlier in the day (you won't be there yet) we expect a few Dutch giant veg records to be broken.
