Can anyone advise where I can purchase or hire pumpkin lifting equipment in the UK?
I'll purchase a pulley hoist and construct a tripod but I need to find a lifting ring and harness.
Has anyone made there own with webbing?

If your straps are long enough you don't need a lifting ring. You just tie the straps to the fork lift fork. Just a thick rope around the base of the pumpkin and about 4 or 5 straps tied to the rope.
A few years ago I got a ring from a metal scrap dealer for 5 euros and tied the straps to it. A fork lift fork fits exactly into that ring. You can do without the ring though.
You should be able to get strapping at an agricultural store or perhaps were they sell automotive supplies as they are used to buckle down cargo on a trailer. Mine take 500 kg per strap and I have five straps.

Thanks Brad. I have seen some at a shop that sells pulleys. It could be the cheapest way to go.
I guess it would be best to practice a bit to gain confidence before trying it on the years pumpkin effort, otherwise.....SPLAT!
