According to my list there have been 29 squash grown over 1000 lbs of which 25 were not damaged.

22 x 1000 lbs
6 x 1100 lbs
1 x 1200 lbs

14 grown off of 848 MacKenzie
2 grown off of 1055 Pitura (selfed 848)
1 grown off of 1131 Timm (selfed 848)
1 grown off of 1003 MacKenzie (grown from 848)
1 grown off of 1053 Werner (grown from 848)
1 grown off of 1119 Razo (male was 848)

Total: 20 of the 29 are directly related to the 848.

The influence of the 895.5 Hester and 900.5 Lyons is even greater once you go further back.

Now the task to get a totally different line into the 900.5 Lyons line without losing weight.
----
Who is going to be trying to do that? And how?
----
A Belgian and Dutch grower are going to be crossing the 1234 Wursten 07* with the 1040 Van Rompaey 06*, one of the darkest green large squash ever. I will try to cross the 1234* with the 793 Olsen 05*, mother of the 1040, and a seed that not only produces dark green, but also big.

Brad, take a look at the 1013* Wells 2006. It has the 549.5* Wells on the female side and 848 on the male side.I don't have the backgroung on the 549.5* with me but I think it comes from a different line other than the 900.5 Lyons.maybe Bob will chime in on this. Also the 903* Swarts 2005 produced the 1031* Swarts 2007 state record squash in Michigan this year. I didn't see the 1031* on your list. I agree with the 793* Olson and the 1040 Van Rompaey. Fantastic dark green on the 1040. if I ever decide to grow green I think I would plant these two seeds.Another great dark green one is the 946.5* Carlson-Peterson 2006.It was grown on the 1086* calson-peterson 2004. Take a look at it's background it is very interesting. I haven't seen any progeny from it yet though.

I meant no progeny on the 946.5* yet.

If all goes as planned in 2008 I am growing my 792.9 and either self it, or cross it with the 848.

I'm planning on growing my 291* (703* Smith x 865 Mettler) here next year. Hopefully it will be big and green, we'll see.

I will be crossing the 848 with the 793 directly. I hope the green numbers continue to increase so that eventually green is as serious/large as orange. Though, I will always grow orange too.

Steve, I have traced every one back as far as possible except for the 549.5*. I can't get any information on that. I have the 1031* on my list, but forgot to put it on here. The 1086* is largely 900.5 as well. Some go green, many, like mine, are grey.

Jordan sounds neat. At the moment the top three squash are not off the 848* directly. The 848* almost seems to peak at 1130ish, something like the 723 peaks at 1400ish.

Andy, could you help me out? I have seeds from your 451.8* (selfed 535*) and your 535*. What are your thoughts on that line off the 815 Anderson?

Brad - I still like that 815 Andersen line. Aggressive plants, and my squash had a nice lime green color. All of my squash in that line were around 10% over chart.

The 451* was used as a pollinator once that I know of, but I don't know if that seed was grown.

My 450 is (815 Andersen x 535*), but I never grew it.

I have been thinking about growing the 535* or 451* this year as a pollinator. I htink I only have one or two of the 535*'s left.

Another option would be the 411* Inzero (535* x self). It was very round, the best % heavy from the 535*, and is still his personal best fuit.

The 815 has consistantly thrown fruit between 12% and 17% heavy. I have one 535* and eight 451* here. Wasn't sure about the color.

The 1013* was grown on 549.5* Wells the 900 Lyons shows up 4 generations back on Mother side. 549.5* also has 879* Rockwell 738* Stellpflug,845 Bobier and 703* Smith in it.

Thanks for the info on the 549.5*.

Steve, I was wondering about the 1119. I was also thinking about adding the 1367.5 Rose to the mix. Your 1191.5 is likely something to work with eventhough the 980 is half 900.5.

Another interesting squash, and one I hope to grow and cross the 1234* into is the 1129.5 Blalock 07* (633 Blalock x 218 Andrews)

The 218 has no 900 Lyons in it. Going back it is half 815 Anderson and half 539 Stellpflug.

The 633 is basically made up of 900 Lyons, 815 Anderson and 539 Stellfplug. In both the female and the male of the 1129.5, the 897 Rockwell (selfed 815) plays an important role.
