Yes, I do. I have a beef with anyone who wants to take the squash forum and make it a tomato forum for your contest. If thats you...like you say above...then yes, I have a beef with you. Start a hubbard contest, even a zucchini contest, whatever....run it here with the squash posts if ya want. Its cool...its a squash forum....thats what its for. People would probably like that. Just don't go scounging for another tomato forum at the expense of the squash forum.
And for god's sake, don't tell me to be careful. You won't scare me....you'll just look like a fool.

Dunno but I've had my share of zuke blimps, Glenn...

I'm sure with everything else I'm having to learn in a hurry, I can learn how to tell the difference if there are some :)

I'm quite sure LIpumpkin can read treetop... lol (use a question mark when you ask a question, by the way).

The problem I have is reading your English. Just a short message on your tomato forum showed more than 25 mistakes and it is not much better here.

Cabin fever can be solved by learning English, so you learn to write before you actually put in into practice here. [TIP - pay attention to punctuation, grammar (verbs, possessive pronouns, etc) and spelling.]

Us squash (marrow, zucchini, etc) growers tend to be a bit quieter than pumpkin growers and if you stay on here long enough, you will note that quiet growers usually do better at the weigh-offs and if one does speak, pay attention!

Brad Wursten - Master's Degree in English, ex-WR holder squash and current WR holder marrow :)

lol - I speak Dutch which is not Deutch. The Germans speak Deutch and the Dutch speak Dutch.

But I can read German/Deutch and must admit I am all of what you mentioned except the last one: an open cutter (I do that to my squash to get out the seeds) and a declarant (I always have to declare the costs I make for the EGVGA to the treasurer).

"lipumpkin, can you read, you need to take a look at what i said, and im not looking for a tomato forum . you mouth just keeps outrunning your brain, READ THE AD, try to CLOSE the MOUTH and READ."

ummm...I read : "the tomato comp will be glad to take it over"
and:
"BP NEEDS to look at a way some others TO can use it"
and :
"sorry for being forward but this squash growing forum is a dud."

Your words. An attempt to discredit the squash forum and change it to tomato. Thats what those words mean. And I can assure you if you haven't figured it out yet it won't happen without a fight.
There are lotsa squash growers out here and as Brad says-we are a quiet sort. We grow green with a conviction and largely against the tide. We grow for ourselves. We grow green with extremely limited contest availability and even less "gold" at the end of the rainbow. We grow green even when the big guys look down upon it. We grow because we want to and nobody will stop us. We banded together to create our own Auction...Trophy....jacket etc....we made them change the squash color rule when they said no time after time. Never, never, take a squasher for granted.
.....Closed.

This is the squash growing forum and until Ken decides to change it it will remain that. Tomatoes, long gourds, watermeoln,Australia, Canada, Eurpoe, Southeast USA and other gardening also have their own forums. I think hubbards, zuchinni and anything other than giant squash should be posted on the other gardening forum. There are alot of giant squash growers around the world and if they choose to post here they do.

Framed wallpaper does not a grower make; getting dirt under their fingernails and taking it up close and personal to the weeds... does. :)

There IS a tomato forum on here; so.

Anyway. Still going to be orange here this year, but. Our weighoff has a squash class; and even if we didn't get any entries for 2009, we still had it. Someone needs to drag one here in 2010, c'mon. :)

Hi Don, I wish I could help, but I think Jos will know the conversions better than I do. You might want to try emailing him about it. "Grondsoort" = type of soil but I am not sure what the 35 or 30 refer to. I'm also wondering where the N results are.

Krug:
"Wow Brad, you swwm to find fault in people as if there was a reward for doing so...How sad."

Why is it sad I say he can't write as a response to him saying LIpumpkin can't read? Is it sad that he said LIpumpkin can't read too, which isn't true, or is it only sad if you say something that is true? What does "swwm" mean? I have no problems with mistakes as long as they don't prohibit communication.

Glenn is a great guy who has done a lot for the squash world and for me personally. In any case he has done "more for folks on here than probably most" and is worth sticking up for!

OkieGal:
Is the only difference between a zuke and a marrow that a zuke grows on a bush type plant and a marrow on vines?

treetop:
No hard feelings. Apparantly you missed the irony of this whole thread. You wanted more posts to the squash forum, and I gave it to you. Nothing gets more posts than a bit of controversy...lol. TC and grow em big! Which AG squash seed are you growing this year?

TreeTop listen and listen good. I'll say this once and only once------You are making an ASS of yourself!!!!!!

The fine growers that responded here have helped me get my head out my ass on giant squash and pumpkin growing. You come in here and start tossing insults around and then go whine about it in the tomato forum, how old are you? My guess is 5.

As a grower of both orange and green, I have recieved valuable help from some of the most knowledgable growers anywhere right here on BP. LI Pumpkin has been amazing helping this rookie last year with seeds, info, and general information on bothe green and orange sides of the patch. Dutch Brad was one of the first growers I talke to on here as a newbie, and gave me lots of info ever newbie needs to get the right start. Sambo, is a gentleman of the hobby, the first guy to send me seeds. So, Whodat, is there a reason for your aggravation you display on here. It's like a television show, if you don't like the program, go to a different channel. Paul Tackett

We speak english Wayne, although it can be tricky:

"I's the b'y that builds the boat"
Newfanese for I built the boat.

" Mon boat est parke' a cote to the wharf la"
Frenglish- my boat is docked at the wharf over there.

" I'll take two eggs side by each, an orange glass of juice and a pair of toast"
Quebecer ordering breakfast in Toronto.

Pike is a type of fish, not some part of a highway.
We never miss "Coach's Corner" during Hockey Night in Canada.
We have more kilometres on our snowblowers than our cars.
We have 10 different recipes for moose meat.
We find -40C a little chilly.
We perk-up when we hear the theme from "Hockey Night in Canada".
We pronounce the last letter of the alphabet "zed" instead of "zee."
"Eh" has over 10 different meanings.
Have a good day eh.
