I just received my SNGPG newsletter and was reading about bringing different genetic line in with the 848 linage. I was going to try a 800 Neily but what seed would be a good cross to bring a whole new linage in for the new breed of squash ? Any good ideas .......

Some think the 985 Werner could be used to establish a new line......

This year I brought the 1125 Razo into the Squash gene pool at our patch. The 1125 Razo has the 1068 Wallace as the male pollinator two generations back otherwise it is all green Squash. I used the 1125 Razo this year to pollinate the 943.5 Jacobus and the 800 Neily. The mothers of the two biggest official green Squash in the world in 2009. My hope is by doing this I will create a green Squash that is consistently green with a genetic capability that surpasses traditional green Squash genetics. The 1125 Razo itself might be the seed to plant since mine is pure green, covered in cantaloupe, and taping almost 900lbs. With no stump since the middle of July and only on a 400 sq. ft. plant due to a foaming crown.

I grew the 841 Turner this year (1502 Wallace X 800 Neily) and crossed it with a 1221.5* Werner wich is 25% 898 Knaus. My 1221 was a medium dark green 50% of them should grow a greenie. I'll find out next year!

Weigh offs are Sep. 25Th/Oct. 2ND/Oct. 9Th/ and Oct. 16Th here in Wisconsin. Yes all three squash are still growing. Hopefully all three make it intact to the scale. E-mail me at youngtracy25@yahoo.com and I will set you up with some seeds.

Well now Monster Grower you've got my interest with that shallow ribbed, selfed 943. A little light but i've got a selfed Neily that might make for a nice match. e.mail me if interested in a trade- jjarvis1@hotmail.com.

The 1,099.5 Jacobus is 943.5 x self also lookajook. I am interested in trading for your 800 x self if your interested. I think these two would make a crazy cross. Nice job Monster Grower. The 943.5 is an easy plant for sure. I planted two plants and I wish all my plants grew this good. I like the shallow ribs as well.

I think this might be a nice match. If the deep ribs stay at bay this could produce a fruit that consistently makes it to the end and goes large. The 800 neily x (self)produced some pretty good color as well.

Why are the best fruits the one's we leave for dead LOL. That is some deep green! What I really want to know is where the 800 neily came from -- just seemed to pop in out of thin air!

Less is more sometimes. If the genetics are there sometimes an average soil with little care will produce the 'lunkers'. The only live squash left in my patch is one i didn't take care of....go figure.
