If you had more people growing squash which crosses would you have them make to advance the genetics. For both GREEN and SIZE? Any thoughts?

I'm not sure, but personaly tried squash pumpkin crosses this year and last, One ended up literaly calico mostly green with part orange and part cream color (1310 pitura x self). I'm toying with the idea of a separate patch out with my market field pumpkins but in that setting I can't care for them enough to get over about 400 pounds (Little water). thinking if I do it it will be more for genetics. not sure what I'd plant yet , though I do have a good selection of squash seeds, guess I'm open for suggestions too..

I would grow the 824Brunst and cross it with the 521.5Andrews...then give the seeds to all my friends like Eddy, Ned, John,etc....look what it did to the 959Platte10*

We will be crossing a 1610 Lieber with our 823* and visa versa. Cant help but wonder about the brilliant color variant in both specimins. Will probably create a classic "Dog Puke" squampkin but you gotta start somewhere!

Matt, you saw the 1162 Midthun at Nekoosa. It was about 98% squash, but ruled correctly as a pumpkin due to a few very very small orange stripes. Super super close to a world champ squash and a first year grower also! Cross was 1543 x self. There is a clone of it growing now moving it another generation forward.

It went way heavy heavy to the chart. Its probably a good one to cross some squash genetics into.

I would go with a Razo seed. Personally I feel he has some of the best Squash x Pumpkin x Squash crosses out there. The 1125 Razo for instance is 1/4 1068 Wallace. I grew it out to 968 lbs. on a plant with 400 sq. ft. and no stump. 1st place at Nekoosa Giant Pumpkin Fest. He has more than one seed that has what it takes. His 1119 is another one. Also try the 1031 Werner. Chris is right about the 1162 Midthum. The 1162 Midthum is the greenest Pumpkin I have ever seen. Almost a true green Squash!

I doubt if a real green squash would get big enough for a new WR

The info is probably not on the aggc since I am not a member. I will send you a picture of it along with the rest of the Squash pictures. The 968 was a very long and low fruit.

To my knowledge no 1012 Pitura* went true green/grey/blue. The 1310 was grown a lot in Europe and we have seen about 50% orange and 50% green/grey/blue. The progeny of the green progeny of the 1310 seem to be throwing true squash, especially grey.
