I srarted with three seeds, and a nice newspaper article. I rotted the first two seeds in previous years, but my last seed sprouted this time. 598 Perkins "03" SQ = F.650 Loyd "99" x M. 642 Glasier & 462 Johnson. I am not an AGGC member but would like to find out info on 642 & 462. (What year were they grown)I was hoping before 2000 & the 895? Is John Perkins still alive? Would you cross this Old School with the 1236Vincent/Mcgill or would you use a newer 848 cross? Still undecided. DBH

I would not grow that seed looking for green fruit in October. The color rules were different back then and you only needed 35% green (or an uncle in high places) to be declared a squash back then. Seeing the 650 lloyd in the mix as the mother it makes sense that it was likely a part green fruit...pollinated by a 642Glasier cross makes me even more wary of pumpkin color as the 642 if memory serves was not a squash either.
