My goal this year was to grow a 1000 lb pumpkin and the way things look now that shouldn't be a problem. My next goal will be to grow a 1000 lb squash and here are a few of the seeds I have. 848 MacKenzie 04 1055.5 Pitura 06 1234 Wursten 07 1052.3 Timm 07 800 Neily 07 1310.5 Pitura 08 1236 Vincent-McGill 09 1217.5 Jarvis 09 947 Cuypers 09 1106 Horde 10
My question is; if you had to pick 3 squash to grow from this list what would they be? Any specific crosses that would be good from the limited gene pool I have?

1) 800 Neily 2) 947 Cuypers 3) 1236 V/M
Use the 947 as the pollinator for the other two.

800, 1055.5 and 947 have been proven in the 1100-1200+ range.

Brad is correct on the 1055. I just didnt have any luck with it.
I would take a hard look at the 947 Cuypers. I had a decent plant started and gave it to Shannon Langridge, one of my 4-H kids. (see her diary 'Langridge'). Check out the colour! I really regret not planting this seedling. I know Shannon is quite happy i gave it to her.
The 1236 i agree so far is unproven. I have seen some real nice fruit off it and I still think it has potential to go big.

Thanks guys, I'll start the 4 you mentioned and go with the best 3. Thats the plan now, but my plans have been known to change ;)

1 Year plan->mid july pollination on the 800 Neily.
2 Year plan->Largest on the tape crossed on biggest %heavy...thats your 3, if you stick with them long enough you'll find out what they like (and dislike) and you have the potential to knock one out of the park:)

based on what i have seen in my limited experience, you need to watch what lookajook and countykid grow, and then look at lovelace and jacobus, and always consider 800 neily and 848 mckenzie, but dont overlook the european growers, whom i am a bit out of the loop with. bottom line....look at weighoff info and look at growth trends
