would crossing the 1002 Jarvis* with the 1807 Stelts pull green or a mix like the 1807

If that green in the 1807 is a tendancy and not an anomoly, I would hit it with the 800 Neily first. 1st generation offspring could displayof a good green color. May need a stabilizer brought in the following cross to control cataclysmic cellular expansion:)

How about crossing the 1486 or 1002 with say a 1723 0r 1634 0r 1421.5 where some are starting to go lite & small split holes.would this producer a thicker walled fruit in the future.Asking???

1002 produced a nice 'emerald' green color, not crazy dark green like the Neily can throw. The 1807 with the current rules would have to be totally over-powered/colored by a squash, not sure if the 1002 has that characteristic...could be wrong though.

I dont think the pumpkin / squash cross 1002* x 1807 results in a true green squash. Perhaps further generations will mendel out.

If you look carefully at the 1807, you will notice that the green on it has a very funny pattern with straight lines. Exactly that of sheets/towels that were laid over it. The unexposed parts were simply orange, so crossing it into the 1002*, which is already not the greenest of colours, would not be a good idea.
And lets be honest, crossing pumpkins into squash has mostly not been successful. Once the colour, after a few generations, stabilizes, you have pretty much gotten rid of not only the pumpkin colour, but also its other (heavy) genetics.

I agree with Brad here. The 1495 Stelts was even more green than the 1807. The 1495 was crossed with a very orange 904 stelts. If the origional germ plasm from the 1161 Rodonis, that grew the 1495 could have been presereved (Clone), I believe it might have been possible to isolate the green by crossing it into a True Green squash. Some of the old boys who did this 20 years ago claimed the green gene could be isolated from a pumpkin exibiting this recessive gene with three generations of selfing. My thoughts are that this might be what we need to do to bring squash to the next level, however I for one am not going to commit the time and space necessary to make these types of crosses. if you really want to look at this, I would lean toward the 1495 ahead of the 1807

The 947 Cuypers is the most successful outcome of a pumpkin/squash cross. The 1055 Pitura 06* (which later grew the WR) was crossed with a 1231 Pukos and produced the 1012 Pitura 07*. This in turn was crossed with the 1055* again and produced a 1310 Pitura 08 bright orange pumpkin, which Leo Cuypers (and a few others) managed to grow green. All of the progeny off the 947 have been green including the 1106 Horde (largest squash in 2010) and the 1196 Ghaye (one of the largest in 2011). The 1106 is the largest fruit ever grown outside in Holland.

The 1106 Horde has a 50:50 shot at producing green on paper, if the green is controlled by one gene and is recessive. I grew 3 plants without much care in 2011 and got a green fruit and an orange fruit. The third plant showed green females, but I never got a fruit to set (but didn't try too hard). Not conclusive, but doesn't disprove the 50:50. The first female will tell you if it will be green or not. Not too hard to grow 3 or 4 in one patch and thin to one plant early.
