Well the squash board is quiet as usual, so I thought I would just blog some crap. My 1002* is doing fantastic and it looks like I got my first pollination to take X 905* V/M. In the heat, thanks to the use of an Enviroshield. This should make an excellent cross! The 1002 has been a strong plant and is showing excellent heat and UV tollerance.
I've also seen some excellent squash plants in my area, including an 89 shymanski and a couple very nice 905's. Rumor is there is a decent 1246* going around here also.
How is everyone doing out there. Any pollination stress?
John

Hi John,
I have nice one on my 800* Neily (x1106 Horde) also one polinated with my 921 (1310x895) And I hope to do another (last one) on the same plant again with 1106 Horde
921 hasn't turn green yet but I polinated 2 with the 800* Neily so next year it must be. It has awsome shaped fruits!! I will be polinating also the last one (tomorrow) with the 800* neily, hoping one will take.

My 1468* has been slow to throw secondaries. I broke the main at the second pollination (x 1246*) and the first one aborted so I have my fingers crossed. The 1246* has a Mg deficiency so we're trying to work out that bug as well. Jim

1037 Is showing some promise here, but seems to be predisposed to 'blowouts' on the stocks in my patch...i'm gonna go with what I got though and hope this greenie doesn't mind a little injury:)
I've pollinated as well in the middle of this heatwave with no aparent 'misses'...With a reduction in aborts using the 'shield', maybe they'll be some more posts as excitement builds over the green 'mosters' growing in our patches:)

1037 Jarvis is an awesome plant, very aggressive, huge leaves, thick vines, massive flowers, heat resistant and an amazing root system, Love it !

1037 Jarvis is a great plant like Mehdi said, however the 982 Sherwood is by far the biggest, strongest, most aggressive plant in my patch. :-)

996 Haist plant here. My worst growing squash plant ever, but also my best ever since it is my first.
Last weeks poll took. I highly doubt todays will due to HEAT.

I have seen in diary pics that the female flowers have very long stems why is that, pumpkins don't have stems like that

This is my first year growing squash....the 1486.6 Jarvis is our best plant...a monster plant, I have never seen so many females on one plant. We have set many and have decided on the "one". We pollinated on July 1.
We are also growing the 634 Vanuk, very vigorous. Have not had many females. Pollinated the second and third female with the 1486.6 and it looks like they might take. I am looking for a couple of images of the 634 Vanuk, can anyone help.
Good luck to all, glassford_ii@msn.com

Thanks Joe the images were very helpful. If you look in my journal you can see an image of my fruit. Is this what you would expect for that plant?
