Lets dig back to some fruit that were oddballs and left people pissed off. Let's get the ugliness out of the way now so we don't have to worry about it later. I'll start with a few photo links to open the thread for discussion.

Stripes - Here is an example (well kinda poor example) of the nearly white stripes in the ribs we sometimes see.

Odd colors - Here is an example of the lighter nearly blue look they sometimes get. These are the ones that get really old and bleach out to white.

These three examples were all classified as squash. Remember too they are not the best examples of the oddballs, the stipes and flecks were just an lighter shade of green, but these photos are to just get the ball rolling for those fruit who have the truly white stripes and flecks.

My two cents worth on all of these examples is rather simple. If the flecks and stripes are white, then unfortuantely, I would be the hardass and say this is a nice pumpkin. But if they are only a light green or light blue, well, then you have yourself a multi-shaded squash.

I also think it is important to note that even know a fruit is ruled a pumpkin, if it is one step in the process to solidify the all green gene, the specimen will not be forgotten by those who are on this quest for improving the size and consistancy of squash. That is what this club will be for. Better communication so we don't let things get lost in the shuffle.

It very well could. It would then become an example of one of those fruit that get thrown in with the pumpkins, but would still be part of the squash world on a genetics level with a little more work to be done with it. I am cool with that.

All squash. There is an allowance for white flecking and stripes...just not white areas that arent down near the bottom. Why are you rehashing this anyway?

Not necessarily rehashing, mor of reconfirming.
In order to build a castle, the foundation must be strong.

This is basically remedial math at this point, but I think it best we are all on the same page, and understand why we are on the same page to avoid any big conflicts in the future regarding this very touchy subject.

If we are all in agreement, then I am very ready to move forward and on to better things. One of those situations where if we were all together in person, I would call for a vote...all in favor say 'aye' type of thing...

Right here lies the problem....we have several "for" and several "against". Eliminate white flecking and stripes and alot of problems are solved. We have to give up something regarding color to make this work......

100% Green, Blue, Grey...perhaps some white allowed at the bottom where the fruit is near the ground.
