I was wondering, if you cross a pumpkin with a 100% chance of producing a kin and a squash with 100% chance of producing a squash, would the pumpkin be more dominant or would the seed that comes from the squash x kin have a 50/50 chance of being a squask/kin? Thanks

It depends on the pumpkin color and genetic dominance. The color orange is dominant and most offspring will go orange. Color in squash and pumpkins is not that simple more than likely it will be a bunch of colors.

The F1 - Generation of "true" pumpkin and "true" Squash usually produces 0 % squash, but the recessive squash genes may appear in further generations

All Pumpkins have some recessive Green genes. Usually a Squash crossed with a pumpkin will result in about 20% green and 80% Pumpkin or 1 in 5 squash. If you cross that squash with a true green squash you will increase the % in the resulting seed to about 80% squash. Another generation will result in about 95% squash. The percentages will vary depending on the strength of the recessive green gene in the pumpkin pollonator. The only way to practicially cross a pumpkin into a squash line is to grow multiples if the F1 and cross them all with true green and do the same the next generation. Otherwise you take your chances. This is not practacle for most growers. Thats why I dont grow any squash x pumpkin crosses.
