I was wondering if any squash growers had any in sight on how they got there squash to turn more of a dark green or gray color. Maybe start taking the sheet off the squash during the day to let the sun shine on the squash all day? Foliar spray leafs with more potassium? Foliar spray with more calcium? Soil drench with more calcium or potassium or both? Any help would be much appreciated..

Pumpkinbrat Towered the end of the season I will uncover the squash at the end of the day to let it darken up . It seems to work for me.

I uncover mine each day, inthe heat of the day. It is a green grey white. Only the stem and leaves are dark green. Usually they turn dark green, exposed to the sun. Jim

Agree with the other comments...exposure to the sun will allow for color developement...Any doubts, look at the bottom of any 'well colored' fruit (pumpkin or squash) that has been light deprived (they're pretty pale). Some are green and stay green from the getgo, others need some time to 'do their thing', and exposure to the sun seems to allow them to progress normally:)
