Do the Show King squash tend to grow more quickly than the Dills Atlantic Giant pumpkins? I have both going presently. The pumpkin was pollinated a week before the squash, and the squash is already the same size at the pumpkin after a week's head start... First time growing the Show King. Suggestions/comments?! Thanks Bunches!

I would guess the pumpkin pollination didn't take. Or maybe you stumbled upon a magic bullet squash seed. I hope it's my second guess.

My experience is. Squash are first out of the gate, but pumpkins are better closers.

My squash are always the fastest growers in the first 20 days or so but they never end up bigger than the pumpkins.

My 996 is about to lap all the pumpkins in the patch at day 20. I assume these things slow down significantly around day 50?
