Hi everyone. I live in Vcr Canada. I got off to a late start with my pumpkins. Its now July 7 and it is only 2 feet long. Is there still hope ?

There's always hope. What are your goals?

If you want the best jack-o-lantern on your block come Halloween then you should have no trouble unless Al Eaton is your neighbor.

If you expect to break 1000 lbs then you could be disappointed.

You could still easily grow one in the 300-500# range if your conditions are optimum. Keep them going & you'll get a great pumpkin for carving. Remember to start planning early next season. Most growers have their pumpkins started by May 1st. Good luck.

Yo, seabisquit (love the name and great movie) what part of Vancouver do you live in?

You should be OK with the great weather we are getting. Just get something pollinated and you should be alright.

With our great weather in September and early October, still plenty of time to get a big one.

Hey, sorry for the delay in answering. I live in N. Delta. I have the pumpkin at my work (ha) It is very healthy, the main stem is 25-30' long and the side vines established. At this date I have one pumpkin approx 21" x 21". Seems to be growing at 1" a day. Im hoping it will take off soon and add alot of other weight. I have about 8 other potentials on various vines, 2 more on the main vine. I have pruned all the vine growth off the secondary vines. I have no problems with disease. All leaves are very healthy. Im hoping I can still get a good one. What are your opinions ?? Thx Doug
