Would be nice to get a Vancouver Island report....Jake always has something good, Craig usually pumps out a few good ones and there are a few other Islanders that it would be good to hear from. And what about that potato farmer?

Hi Glenn. Not a very good year for pumpkins in nanaimo for me. My 1142 Vankooten is nearying 600 lbs, but has a split between the stem and the downstream vine due to vine stress [ A mistake on my part for not positioning the fruit early on}. Growing only 11 lbs per day now. My 1195 Vankooten will be a nice halloween carver and is around 350 lbs. Good luck everyone. WTNY

Jeff, Glenn, et all, There won't be any giants coming out of my patch this year. Ripped out one plant two weeks ago. My 1104 is at +700 lbs but has several stem splits into the cavity. I'll see what I can get out of her. The 1142 and 1195 are very nice pumpkins but only sitting at around 500 lbs. The weather has been horrendous here. Late pollination combined with cold weather all year has done me in this season. Already brought in two loads of manure for next season. Good luck to all in the home stretch. Jake.

Got a couple here Jeff but nothing like what you have going 'back home'...looks great. There's a couple I have pushing 700, a new p.b if they hold, but with a dry summer and the S.V.B.'s getting ahead of me I don't think i'll be on any podiums this year;)

Thanks for the update everyone....still waiting to hear from Chad in the Pemberton Valley.
Jake, sorry to hear about the 1104. I know what you mean about late pollinations as I did not get anything set till the end of July/early August.
I've got a nice one on my 577.5 that is gaining good now but is only at day 28 and another real pretty round one on a small 670 plant (darn squirrels)

Hi All
It sounds like most of Canada has suffered with crazy weather this season. We have 4 still growing. Their weights are ranging from 750+ to 580#. We'll need some really nice weather if we are to reach the magical 1000# range. Good luck to all of you at this season's weigh offs & lets hope we get decent weather in Sept.
Phil
PS. We seen some monsters during the NH patch tour.
